We’ve all heard the phrase “Happy Wife, Happy Life”, but what about the happiness of men? What value is placed on the happiness of a man? Men, your peace, and happiness are valuable and you are deserving of both.
Despite societal expectations that may make it seem like men’s happiness is unimportant, you should be placing your happiness at the forefront of your mind. To achieve this, men must take the time to truly know themselves, forgive themselves for any mistakes, and understand that their happiness should not depend on anyone else’s. It’s essential to place your happiness at the forefront of your mind and take steps towards achieving it.
To achieve genuine happiness, men must prioritize three essential actions:
- Embrace the Present
- Discover WHO you are
- Find happiness within
Embrace the Present
We all have a past and a future. However, worrying about either of them can cause anxiety in the present and make us miss important moments. To be happier men, we need to stop dwelling on our past accomplishments and, most importantly, stop letting our past mistakes affect us negatively. There is nothing we can do to change our past, but we can learn from it and use those lessons to become better people in the present. It’s important that we give ourselves some grace and forgive ourselves for anything we may have done in the past that wouldn’t do now. While it’s important to plan for the future, we shouldn’t let it consume us and make us anxious about what’s to come. Instead, we should focus on being present, which can promote gratitude and bring us peace, ultimately leading to a better future.
For your past:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17
About your Future:
“Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Matthew 6:34
Discover WHO you are
Every man should strive to become the most authentic version of themselves. Your most authentic self is the version of yourself that God has called you to be. If you can become that version and discover your purpose – the reason for being on this earth – and live in that purpose, you will find happiness. To discover yourself your most authentic self, you may need to spend more time alone with your thoughts, maybe even writing journaling your thoughts and feelings. The more you do this, the more you get to understand your strengths and weaknesses. The more you know yourself the better you understand what is truly valuable to you. Engage in activities like journaling, meditation, or seeking guidance from mentors or therapists to explore different aspects of yourself. You should be willing to do what’s necessary to give your best in every moment. He who discovers his purpose has found happiness. Find my past blog post on purpose here.
Find happiness within
A wise person once said, “Happiness is 100% an inside job”. I couldn’t agree more! Depending on other people to dictate your happiness will leave you at the mercy of external factors. However, if you work on yourself, you’ll be pleased with who you are as a person, and you are content with the life you lead. You won’t be dependent on others for your happiness. You’ll be in control, and no one or nothing will have power over you. Your happiness should be independent of external circumstances and material possessions. Your happiness should be based on your positive mindset, gratitude, and finding joy in simple moments.
In conclusion, men should intentionally pursue happiness. Society may tell men that their happiness should be tied to their performance, but true happiness is achieved by focusing on the present moment, letting go of past burdens and uncertainties of the future, understanding oneself, discovering one’s true purpose and identity, and lastly recognizing that true contentment stems from within. Remember, Your happiness is a personal journey, and it’s an inside job deserving of your attention.

“Society may tell men that their happiness should be tied to their performance…” so true and as men we need to move away from that mindset. Great read! 🙏🏽
Great topic for men to be aware of: their happiness. I agree that we need to discover who we are and find happiness within; but embracing the present really stuck out to me because I know what that anxiety really is like. Thanks for sharing the scriptures as well, they helped bring peace and importance to being present.
A good informative read.
We’re simple to please lol
